Financial Controller/Piraeus

Kalimbassieris Maritime is looking to recruit a Financial Controller to join our Piraeus Office.

Job Purpose

We are looking for an experienced financial controller to undertake all aspects of Financial Management as well as development of internal control policies and procedures. The individual will work closely with the accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. He/she is responsible to deliver each month a management report and other information relating to actual, forecast and budget for the regions. He/she will also be responsible to ensure internal policies are followed and help create new ones to enhance internal reporting process.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances for all units
  • Prepare local management reporting and review reporting created by the group units
  • Ensure that the month end/year end for each unit closes accurately and timely, liaising with local accountants- provide support when necessary
  • Research technical accounting and/or hr issues for compliance
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Reconcile existing transactions through cross-referencing of incoming and outgoing data
  • Conduct comparables’ analysis and market research to support internal financial analysis
  • Grow financial performance through analysis of financial results, forecasts, variances, and trends
  • Support top management in decision making by retrieving and reviewing information related to tax/legal/employment issues
  • Support the group units when required

Required qualifications:

  • 5+ years of business finance or other relevant experience
  • Strong fluency with office applications (excel, word etc)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics)
  • Experience with month-end/year-end close process
  • Strong management and interpersonal skills
  • Perfect command of English
  • Knowledge of SoftOne ERP will be considered an asset
  • Stress resistant, team-player, proactive, results-oriented
  • Assertive with a strong and outspoken personality
  • Ability to work effectively together with offshore accounting teams and management as well as other business partners and providers onshore and offshore (tax advisors, auditors, etc)

A perfect candidate would have:

  • Previous Financial reporting experience and/or audit experience (preferably Big 4)
  • Experience with SoftOne
  • Fluent English
  • Strong Management skills and decision making ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Comfort dealing with ambiguity and the ability to work independently
