Participation in Springfield Shipping in-house LP seminar - November 2016

Our Technical Director, Dimitrios V. Giannakouros, was kindly invited by Springfield Shipping to participate as speaker in their in-house LP seminar, which took place in the Company’s building in Athens, on 23rd November 2016.

Dimitrios gave an extensive presentation on “Bunkering Procedures and Fuel Management Problems”, which covered the following issues:

• ISO Standards relating to bunkering;
• Quantity determination and malpractices experienced;
• Industry’s latest developments with the introduction of Mass Flow Meters;
• Sampling procedures
• On board and shore based testing of fuel samples;
• Evaluation of test results and identification of off-spec bunkers; and
• Engine damages caused as a result of consumption of bad quality bunkers.

Particular emphasis was given on measures and precautions to be taken for avoiding malpractices and problems arising out of the consumption of off-spec bunkers.
